Chemepdia is a platform for large-scale public collaboration in chemistry. As such, it hosts content submitted by a number of chemists worldwide. We take quality very seriously; to ensure the quality of user submissions, Chempedia uses a streamlined form of peer-review.
How It Works
Every registered Chempedia user is assigned a reputation score. You can see this score next to the name of any user who has submitted content. If you go to your personal page (or see this example), you'll find this score underneath the image to the left.
When other users vote up the contributions of an author, s/he is awarded reputation points. When other users vote down an author's contribution, points are subtracted from the author's reputation score.
Higher reputation scores allow for greater access and influence over Chempedia. Rather than being overseen by a central authority, Chempedia is for the most part overseen by its user community through the peer-review system.
