The technology is called OpenID, and has
been adopted by most major Web service providers.
What if I don't have a provider?

No. You log into your provider's site securely - just as you always do.
Your provider only shares your OpenID URL.
Your can avoid typing your password by first logging into
your account separately, and then returning to this page. You won't be
asked for your password when you log in here.
Why Doesn't It Work?
If you already have an account with one of our accepted providers, the
most likely reason is that you haven't enabled OpenID support. Check
your provider's documentation on "activating OpenID" for more information.
